3 Simple Ways to Celebrate Earth Day As a Family

Birthing/ Family

Celebrating Earth Day with family doesn’t need to involve heavy schedule changes or a bunch of volunteer hours (but it can!). From an outdoor outing to uploading a picture online, here are some fun and simple ways families can celebrate Earth Day together.

1. Find Your Park

The National Park Service is celebrating it’s 100th anniversary with a huge campaign to get families outside exploring parks everywhere.

2. Be a Butterfly Hero

The National Wildlife Federation’s Butterfly Hero campaign urges families to snap a photo of themselves saying “butterfly” in American Sign Language to show support and a promise to make a more livable world for butterflies. While supplies last, NWF will send a butterfly kit to families who upload their butterfly sign photo to the website.

3. Make Changes at Home

If you aren’t already conserving water and recycling everything you can, now’s the time to start. Educate your kids about Earth day and some simple conservation techniques. If you don’t already have a garden, plant a tree and some flowers outside, or put together an indoor greenhouse.
