Managing to eat breakfast now that the kiddo is in school hasn’t been easy. I get back from school drop off and try to catch up on social media and emails as soon as I can so the next thing I know it’s noon or 1 p.m. already and I haven’t eaten a thing all day. I’m all about peanut butter and S is all about apples (no food allergies here) but with my dairy sensitivity it has made eating something as tasty as apple PB&Js not as fun. After all, S likes to dip her apples in milk and I really enjoy the refreshing taste of milk after a bite of my protein-packed PB&J with apple slices inside. Fortunately, I learned about a different kind of cow’s milk that isn’t genetically modified or altered in any way, but that doesn’t give either of us tummy troubles either — the perfect milk for our after-school snacking in a few weeks!
Over 572,000 people pledged to spend time as a family outdoors on May 21 for National Park Trust‘s National Kids to Park Day. This special day in May was created by National Park Trust, whose mission is to preserve parks today and create park stewards for tomorrow, as a way for parents and kids to learn more about their nearby parks. I took Savannah to the park since we weren’t able to visit a national park that day, and it was amazing. There’s something about unplugging and breathing in fresh air and the natural surroundings around where you live — It’s good for your eyes, parent-child relationship, and spirit. It’s just not that easy to actually get out and going with the family, though, right?
