I’m all about awareness and ensuring that parents maintain self-care post kiddos here at Savvy Every Day, which is exactly why I just co-hosted a Mom’s Fit & Well event, wrote about exercises that are simple and can be taken anywhere, shared info on a Bay Area CSA with coupon code, and gave away a really great sports bra! But health doesn’t stop there, so expect even more Fit Mama/Fit Dad posts in the future, too! This post is about running. You’re either a runner or you’re not. I am not. But, I was contacted by Women’s Health Magazine to attend their RUN 10 FEED 10 event on 10/25 in SF where every registrant that enters to run the 10K is providing food for those who normally go hungry (and can raise even more money for the cause via Crowdrise) so I’m attempting it on Sunday. Join me!
Sadly, I just learned about this event so the Chicago and New York runs have already happened . . . but now you know for next year! Now because I am not a runner, I’ll be taking in the gorgeous SF landscape and views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and Palace of Fine Arts while I do a little brisk walking/jog combo. I’ll probably be dead last, but that’s OK as long as I get up at 6:30 a.m., get on the road and actually do it. You can too! Simply register for $50 online with code R10F10PR (that already provides a meal to someone without one), then fundraise anything from $5 to hundreds if you’re able to (if not, that’s OK too, there’s no pressure, only support at this event). After that, you just have to get yourself there! This is a chance for some kiddo-free time as strollers and littles are typically discouraged as large runs like this. Mine will be at a local firefighters breakfast while I listen to some early 2000s emo jams on my iPhone and make it through my first 10K (I’ve seriously only bought one new CD in the last few years . . . and it was 1989 in case you’re wondering).
Plus, Danielle Panabaker from CW’s hit series The Flash will be there running her first 10K and to guest host the event! She’s available for interviews after the event so I’m hoping to chat with her about staying healthy and also to get some info on the new season of the The Flash. There’s also a post-race yoga cool down, some interactive vendor booths to check out and the obligatory event bag. All in all, it sounds like a fun event for a good cause that you’ll want to attend or support if you’re able to.
Do you have any questions for Danielle? Let me know!
