Since I was in high school, Thanksgiving typically meant it was time for me to get started on my Christmas cards. But after having S years ago, the whole Christmas/New Year cards thing slowly disappeared. I didn’t have time to collect everyone’s new address, get cards together and write out everything on each one (I’d prepare a personalized note for each card). Plus, my friendships were all changing a lot. Now that S is a bit older and I’m in contact with good friends and family again, this year seemed like the perfect time to actually send cards out to keep in touch. I reached out to Minted to create a gorgeous foil pressed card, and it’s absolutely lovely.
From the type of foil, the image, the font and even the addresses on the envelopes, Minted allowed me to customize everything with ease. Using the site was totally intuitive. I clicked the boxes next to the types of cards I knew I wanted to choose from (foil and letter pressed) so I wasn’t lost in a sea of beautiful options. Then I chose their Find It Fast option where you can upload your chosen photo and it will appear in a preview of all the card options available so you can narrow it down fast. Once I chose which card I liked best I selected the type of foil option I wanted, moved and resized my photo and personalized the text. Afterward, Minted allowed me to add my recipient mailing addresses to the envelopes for free (it was a promotion on the day I ordered). Yay, no worrying about my poor calligraphy skills this year!
Though Minted has a ton of breathtaking photo-free cards available (like the one above), I used a pic from our recent Friendsgiving trip to Truckee for the card. There was just a bit of snow out for a fun Winter atmosphere. A lot of families take one big pic every year, but I think S is the cutest, so I just focus on her for these cards. If you have a bunch of pictures, or would like to create a sort of yearly roundup card, Minted offers cards with multiple photo placement and that open for more pages to place pics and info about how that family member is doing that year.
